composing for the human voice:

composers write miniature vocal pieces for each other, making use of the vocal constraints and unique attributes of each human instrument.

duration: 3–20 hours over 1–10 days

vocal improvisation workshop:

a no-experience-necessary vocal improvisation workshop for curious souls of any age. themes include, breath as a partner, non-hierarchal improvisations, joy as technique, singing for yourself, improvising as a group.

duration: 9–10 hours over 3–5 days

graphic & text scores

instrumentalists and singers learn the basics of graphic and text scores and then create and perform their own.​

duration: 3–10 hours over 1–5 days

​

improvisation for classical singers

classical singing sets singers up beautifully for improvising, but it can be a little nerve wracking to step away from the score. this workshop suggests a pathway towards free improvisation in solo and group singing.

improvisation for music majors

everyone can improvise! this is an introduction to a few ways to think about improvisation for undergraduate and graduate students.​

singing for dancers

there is so much in common between our fields. this course makes use of the dancer's mastery of movement, and awareness of the body to explore the voice.
